An Unlimited Life

“We walk by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NAS

Faith begins where your natural senses end, but remains within the will and purpose of God.”

My thoughts today are about “an unlimited life.”

You can live each day within your natural limits, dependent upon your five senses: your sense of sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell. But each of those is limited. If that is the basis upon which you rely in every situation, you too will be limited and the boundaries of your life and its expectations and experiences will be small compared to what God meant them to be. Life is meant to be so much more than what many of us ever experience.

But the Bible promises you there is something beyond the limits of your natural senses. This provision is called faith, and is both spiritual and supernatural. Faith begins where your natural senses end. You can choose to accept those lesser limits, or you can explore the greater dimensions of God’s will and power. Faith extends to the reaches of God’s will and power, and its only limit is your exercise of that faith. “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not seen.” Hebrews 11:1 NKJV.

It is not just about having faith; that can be sincere but misplaced. People believe many things that are not so, and never could be. Their faith cannot change that reality. Believing in Santa Claus or the Easter bunny will not make it so. Faith, to be without limits, must be placed in what is eternally true . . God’s character, His will and Word.

Throughout the Gospels, Jesus recognized true faith and noticed where it was lacking. In His hometown of Nazareth He could not work miraculously as He did elsewhere, “because of their lack of faith.” Matthew 13:58 NIV.

Wherever Jesus found faith, He freely demonstrated the power of God beyond natural limits and restraints. “Without faith it is impossible to please God because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those that earnestly seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6 NIV.

You might find it hard to explain, but this promise is exhilarating to consider, “All things are possible to the one that believes.” That is life without limits. Mark 9:23 NLT. Let me add a note of caution. Faith is not a way that you can manipulate God to give or do what you want or think you need. Faith is for your unlimited life within the bounds of God’s wisdom, will, and purpose for your life.

Faith is purest from the heart that loves and trusts God so fully that you would not want anything that was outside of His purpose and perfect plan for you your life. “I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord. They are plans for your good . . to give you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11 NLT.

My prayer for you today is that you accept no limits but God’s.
