Love WITH ALL YOUR HEART.

Love the Lord your God with all your passion and prayer

and intelligence.”  Matthew 5:37:40. The Message.

My thoughts today are about,

“SET YOUR HEART ON GOD ALONE.”

Life should not be lived casually. Life should be purposeful and lived in obedience to God and the Bible. Life is not a casual carefree stroll in a park. Life is a limited time for diligent obedience and meaningful achievement. Neither you, nor I, can know the number of our days. Th extent and imprint of our lives are known to God alone.

The final, and consequential assessment of yours or my life will not be the measure of accumulated wealth, nor the expensive possessions we value, nor the good works we accomplish. Life will be measured by our individual loyalty to God’s Word and sincere charity toward all others.

We complicate what God made simple. Religion devises endless practices that will never relive. Jesus was clear, simple, and “to the point.” “Love the Lord your God with all your passion, and prayer, and intelligence.’ This is the most important, the first on any list.” Matthew 5. The Message. Think about those three specific words for a few moments – passion, prayer, and intelligence. Passion comes from your heart. Prayer rises from your inner spirit. Intelligence is your knowledge and understanding of God’s love, Hs, wisdom and Word. We best worship God out of truth evidenced by Emotion, Devotion, and Information.

And then God continues. ”But there is a second to set alongside it: ‘Love others as well as you love yourself.’ These two commands are everything in God’s Law and the Prophets hangs from them.’” Matthew 5:37:40. The Message. Love God with all you have. Love others as you love yourself.

Therein lies a problem. It is not always easy to love yourself. And when you do not love yourself, then you will struggle to love others. Every problem has an answer. The assurance of God’s Word is where your answer is found. You can and will learn to love yourself when you truly embrace and believe that God loves you. Th gospel of Good News is for any and everyone. That means you. For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16 NIV. Read that verse again slowly and let it settle in your heart.

In faith, embrace the single requirement – believing in Jesus’ finished work on Calvary’s cross. He paid the debt you could not pay. He gave the gift you could not earn. That gift is salvation for all who believe. Believe God’s promise, above your feelings and remorse.

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.11 Discretion will watch over you, Understanding and discernment will guard you,12 To keep you from the way of evil and the evil man, From the man who speaks perverse things.” Proverbs 2:10-12 Amplified Bible.

My prayer for you today is that you will set your heart fully on God alone.
